Dr Pantz's first triumph was with the simple garment briefs, named after the 'brief' amount of time he took to design them[1].

These breakthrough briefs proved highly popular and people would declare:
'I am wearing Günter Pantz!' Very soon the garments became known as unter- or under - pants.
Y-fronts remain Dr Pantz's most famous invention. These took 24 unsuccessful prototypes to perfect.

Dr Pantz died in a tragic pants-related accident. Catching sight of someone wearing a pair of his new-fangled pants on their head, he literally laughed himself to death.
